🠈 About Davis Color 🠊
This site, Davis Color is part of the Utah Color project. The site lists web sites and blogs for people and businesses in Davis County and the I15 corridor.
I started this project in 2001 in an effort to promote local web development and to help raise community awareness in the Beehive State.
The project began by creating directories and calendars for select towns in the Mountain West. The directory Salt Lake Sites covered Salt Lake County. The site iOgden.com covered the Ogden statistical area.
Buying a domain for each town proved too expensive. For example, Davis County has a dozen notable towns. It would cost me $120 a year to have a site for each town.
So, I decided to change the focus of the project from towns to counties.
The County focus works quite well for Davis County which has slowly evolved into a wall to wall city along the I15 corridor.
Advertising
My original plan was to fund the project with affiliate ads. I found that maintaining affiliate ads takes up too much time. In my current rebuild of the project, I decided to give local businesses the opportunity to displace the affiliate ads.
To start, I will offer adverting at $25 for 100,000 page views. This is an incredibly low 25¢ CPM for targeted local advertising.
I actually make about 30¢ CPM from the affiliate ads. Anyway, you can order the ads here.
Project resources
The Davis Color project includes a human edited local directory for the county, a calendar and some linked articles about history of the the state starting with an Introduction to Davis County.
